Business Process Management

ERW provides the necessary Business Process Management (BPM) skills to define enterprise processes that cross functional and departmental boundaries. Our ability to define an enterprise context allows our Lean Six Sigma team to focus on problems that affect the entire system.  ERW brings a holistic management approach to aligning an organization’s business processes with the wants and needs of clients.  Our BPM promotes business effectiveness and efficiency while striving for innovation, flexibility, and integration with technology. The goal of our BPM competency is to improve processes continuously via a “process optimization method.” Our BPM enables our clients to be more efficient, more effective, and more capable of change than a functionally focused, traditional hierarchical management approach.

Our BPM helps organizations gain higher customer satisfaction, product quality, delivery speed, and time-to-market speed.  Our clients have confirmed that our BPM competency has a positive impact on organizational efficiency.

Inherent in our BPM capabilities is our Lean Six Sigma (LSS) practice.  LSS is a powerful, flexible and proven cost and waste elimination method that we have executed successfully for our Federal clients. Our implementation of LSS has enabled organizations to reduce total costs (on the average) by 25% by eliminating wasted time and activities from operations. This waste reduction effort has also serves to increase the quality of the organization’s products. Most importantly, LSS builds foundations within organizations that stimulate and nurture cultures of continuous improvement.

Our LSS product offering includes the major components of LSS—the combination of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies. The Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control is the heart of Lean Six Sigma and is known as the DMAIC process.

  • Define and Measure: Our process of waste reduction begins by talking to the customer or user of the output of the process to Define what they want and value, then create a way to Measure the outcome. All costs that do not contribute to that value are waste and can be immediately eliminated.
  • Analyze and Improve: We create quality teams who Analyze the problem to define the root cause, then make recommendations for Improvement.

Control: After these steps have been accomplished we make recommendations for implementation of Controls to prevent a regression back to the old wasteful performance.

Contract Management

Our Contract Management capability is federally focused and includes the management of contracts made with customers, vendors, partners, or employees.  Our subject matter experts negotiate the terms and conditions in contracts and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions, as well as document and agree on any changes or amendments that may arise during its implementation or execution.  Our contract management capability can be summarized as the process of systematically and efficiently managing contract creation, execution, and analysis for the purpose of maximizing financial and operational performance and minimizing risk. Our contract management professionals strive to:

We utilize a contract lifecycle management philosophy to ensure repeatable successes in our contract management execution.  Our solutions enable clients to structure more profitable contracts, streamline the contracting process, and increase compliance. Our solution automates and manages the various stages of contract lifecycle from creation and execution, through performance monitoring, amendments, analysis and renewal.  We enable our clients to capture more revenue opportunities, have better supplier/partner/vendor relationships, and actively enforce compliance and mitigate risks.

Financial Management

ERW provides a full spectrum of financial management support for Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs. We facilitate the preparation, staffing, review and approval of all statutory and regulatory DoD 5000 series related acquisition documentation for government program offices. We further support the preparation of budgets for the Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution (PPBE) process.  We decompose the PPBE process in order to instruct our clients on how the DoD “allocates its resources”.  Our financial subject matter experts provide services that allow clients to stay within their fiscal budget while they follow the Secretary of Defense’s policy, strategy, and goals.

Via our financial management competency, we ensure repeatable processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide a structured approach throughout the financial lifecycle from planning through operations. We utilize Industry and Government best practices and standards to guide our clients in this effort (i.e., JTR, FIRMR, DoD5000, etc.)  We have developed an invoice management process to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.  We input and update detailed financial forecasts of planned funding execution into government-designated financial management processes and automated systems.  We assist in the preparation of necessary budget spreadsheets and appropriate documentation to support directed financial data calls.  Our budget spreadsheets detail authorizations, commitments, obligations, and balances.  We assist in the preparation of budget formulation documents, including 300b exhibits, for the Budget Estimate Submission (BES), Program Objective Memorandum (POM) and the President’s Budget.

Via our cost estimation proficiency, we support all cost estimation processes throughout the product lifecycle.  We prepare accurate and detailed reports balancing cost, schedule, and performance.  In addition, we assist with assessments and analysis in support of any cost estimation related activities.

Information Technology

Our Information Technology service delivery offerings encompass components throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) continuum.  We approach execution of the SDLC from two sides: Quality Assurance (preventing defects from entering the cycle) and Quality Control (identifying and removing defects from the cycle).  In addition to our SDLC service offerings, we also offer “stove pipe” service execution which includes Risk Analysis, Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V), and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).  We ensure that requirements are met, specifications are confirmed, documentation is completed and accurately describes the enterprise, and we build the design.  We provide CMMI process certification and validation services based on an Information Technology Information Library (ITIL) framework.

Portfolio Management

ERW provides subject matter experts skilled in the art and science of making decisions about investment mix and policy, matching investments to objectives, asset allocation for individuals and institutions, and balancing risk against performance.  Our portfolio management competency is all about strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the choice of debt vs. equity, domestic vs. international, growth vs. safety, and many other tradeoffs encountered in the attempt to maximize return at a given appetite for risk.

Our project Portfolio Management (PPM) is the centralized management of processes, methods, and technologies used by project managers and project management offices (PMOs) to analyze and collectively manage a group of current or proposed projects based on numerous key characteristics. Our objectives when executing PPM are to determine the optimal resource mix for delivery and to schedule activities to best achieve our client organization’s operational and financial goals ― while honoring constraints imposed by customers, strategic objectives, or external real-world factors.  PPM is relevant for our client organizations with multiple projects and resources that require a formalized framework for tracking, allocating, and managing them effectively.

ERW provides expertise to help guide our government clients’ organizations with compliance and reporting on Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requirements. Our consulting services and techniques enable government IT stakeholders to make better informed decisions with “apples-to-apples” comparisons and multiple levels of input, review, and approval across their IT portfolio with the use of ProSight’s portfolio management software, Primavera ProSight.

ERW provides “Knowledge Based Services Contracting” in three different categories: Management and Professional Services; Studies, Analyses and Evaluations; and Engineering and Technical Services. We offer highly trained staff to assist with organizational policy development, decision-making, management and administration, and program and/or project management.  We offer top-level administrative professionals who have detailed knowledge of office systems, technology, office administration and management, and know how to apply the principles of good human relations and communications.
